So I am Rachel and at the time of writing I am 29 years old. I am a doctor who is training to be a GP in a hospital on the South Coast and I am currently on maternity leave. I love cats, crime fiction and baking. I attend an amazing evangelical baptist church in my home town and they have helped me grow in ways that I could never have imagined.
I thought I had life pretty much sorted. I got married to my husband three years ago and we bought a house. We then decided to have a baby. Then on the 9th of June 2014 my life was turned upside-down in an amazing and terrifying way when my son Isaac entered the world. I thought I was prepared for this next step. I now realise that however hard you try nothing can compare you for motherhood and all its adventures and challenges. On the day I start this blog he is exactly 8 months old and is currently lying next to me snoring.
So what do I hope to achieve by writing this blog. I hope it is going to be a way for me to document the fun side ofmy life as a mum and also share some of the concerns and anxieties I have about it. Even 8 months in I don't find it easy and I constantly wonder if I am doing the right thing or not! What this will not be is a blog filled with beautiful pictures of a perfect life because to be honest my house is a tip a lot of the time. I thought that being a doctor would make me more able to cope with the realities of a young baby.... bugs and all... I was wrong!
